Abstract

Optical Frequency Multiplying supports the distribution of broadband microwave signals in multimode fibre links by its robustness against modal dispersion. A high throughput bi-directional system delivering 100 Mbit/s at carrier frequencies beyond 17 GHz over 100 metres GI-POF is demonstrated. Using transparent optical switching, flexible inter-room wireless pico-cell communication can be established.
