Abstract
An approach for adjustment of defects in constitutive models is presented. First, the parameters in an initial model are determined from a measured displacement field and the residuals are analysed. If the residuals are unacceptable, a set of candidate model extensions is specified. From this set, the 'best' model extension is selected by performing a sensitivity analysis. By means of numerical simulations, it is shown that this approach can be applied to find the 'best' model for a class of inhomogeneous materials in a fast way
