Abstract

This paper will review recent advances in heterogeneously-integrated photodetectors (PDs) on silicon substrates, with a focus on our latest demonstration of a record-high bandwidth UTC-PD fabricated in an advanced InP membrane-based platform. This platform is capable for integrating a broad range of active and passive photonic components. We will also discuss its applications in fully-integrated microwave generators and free-space communication networks.
