High capacity data transport over plastic optical fibre links using quadrature modulation

Abstract

Quadrature modulation techniques allow to realise high data rate transport over severely bandwidth-limited links, while deploying readily available low-cost chip sets. The performance of a number of system concepts for large-core step-index plastic optical fibre has been analysed, and their technical feasibility assessed.
