Abstract

This publication explores the significance of Harmen Blok's work for tribology. Blok (1910 - 2000) thought on basis of concepts and analogies, allowing his insights to remain surprisingly topical. In addition, they are practical and conceived to help make the design tribologically sound from the very start. Therefore, this paper has been written to
ensure continued attention to Blok’s original ideas.
