Abstract

Supramol. chem. plays an important role in today's material research. A wide range of compds. can be synthesized using terpyridine chem. because of its excellent complexation ability with a large variety of transition metal ions (in low oxidn. states). The synthesis of a sym. ruthenium bis-terpyridine complex under mild conditions is shown using Ru(DMSO)4Cl2 as precursor for the formation of the terpyridine mono-complex. The functionalized supramol. complex was fully characterized by means of 1H NMR spectroscopy, UV-Vis, GPC, MALDI-TOF-MS as well as optical microscopy. The hyroxy-endgroups offer a great opportunity to further modify the mol. [on SciFinder (R)]
