Abstract

The importance of dissociative recombination and mutual recombination in expanding thermal plasma jets is discussed. A very pronounced influence of these processes on the ionization degree of the recombining jet is obsd. The light emission of the jet turns out to mainly be detd. by mol. recombination processes ending in excited at. states. The origin of the mols. taking part in recombination processes is addressed. Mutual recombination appears to be a prime process in H- contg. plasmas, detg. the excited level population. [on SciFinder (R)]
