Experimental 9 MHz Transmission from Varsil'sursk in Russia to the WIND Spacecraft of NASA

Research output: Contribution to journalArticleProfessional

Abstract

Experimental transmissions have been carried out with a transmitter station, able to operate from 6 to 9 MHz in Varsel'sursks (Russia). Transmissions to the NASA Wind Spacecraft have been received though the ionosphere. A continued transmission an extended time allowed such reception at the Wind spacecraft with the "Waves" instrument. It permitted to confirm the radiation pattern of the terrestrial-based transmitter, despite the ionospheric influences.
