Essential oils of Zingiber cassumunar Roxb. from Northeast India

The essential oils of Zingiber cassumunar, Zingiberaceae, were isolated from its rhizomes and leaves by hydrodistillation. Analysis of the oils by GC and GC/MS revealed that the rhizome oil contained terpinen-4-ol (50.5%), (E)-1-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)buta-1,3-diene 09.1%), (E)-1-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)but-1-ene (6.00Al) and beta-sesquiphellandrene (5.9%) as major constituents out of21 compoundsidentified. In the leaf oil 39 components were identified, and the main compounds were found to be 1(10),4-furanodien-6-one (27.3%), curzerenone (25.7%) and p-sesquiphellandrene (5.7%).
