    Abstract

Certain samples of the linear dimer and trimer and of a mixt. of linear oligomers of e-aminocaproic acid were hydrolyzed in aq. 7.72N HCl at 110 Deg for chosen time intervals. The rate constant pertaining to the hydrolysis of the amide groups is independent of chain length and has the value of 0.24/hr.; this proves that in this system the principle of equal reactivity holds.
