Abstract

World-wide the number of grid-connected PV systems is growing fast, especially in the built environment. In order to assure the quality and energy output of these systems, a number of electrotechnical requirements need to be fulfilled, at both component and system levels. In addition requirements with respect to electrical safety need to be met. Part of these requirements are covered by international standards, especially with respect to the PV modules. A number of standards is still under development. In the area of systems and utility interfacing local codes are still in use. These local codes differ significantly from country to country.
