Electrode diagnostics and modelling for ceramic metal halide lamps

Abstract

Electrode diagnostics and modeling of ceramic metal halide lamps were investigated. An explicit method was used to solve the heat balance equations of a two-dimensional, rotational symmetric electrode body numerically. Near-IR radiation intensities of the electrode were measured by imaging the tungsten electrode rod on a CCD camera through a narrow band filter at 990 nm. A spot behavior in Hg-lamps with heavy electrodes is observed.
