Abstract
The kinetic equation for a fully ionized plasma, in the presence of an oscillating external electric field, is solved approximately by means of the Galerkin method. The frequency of the external field is assumed to be much smaller than the electron plasma frequency. For the collision operator two different forms are used: the Lenard-Balescu operator and a completely convergent one. Calculating the electrical conductivity on this basis we find agreement with results reported previously for the d.c. case and for frequencies that are much higher than the collision frequencies.
