Abstract

A numerical strategy for the determination of mechanical material parameters for composites is described. Attention is focused on composite materials with randomly oriented short fibres. To determine the mechanical behaviour of the composite material, a representative volume is modelled in detail and analysed employing the finite element method (FEM). The composite parameters are determined and expressed as a function of microstructural parameters.
