Abstract

Application of 3D models in urban planning practice is still limited to visualization of existing or newly designed situations. Municipalities are looking for possibilities to communicate the transition process of the urban development area with the citizens. A prototype system was developed to investigate what the technical requirements are of such a tool and what the organizational consequences will be. As an example, screenshots are shown of a district in Eindhoven at different moments in time. Finally, recommendations are given on what is needed to turn the prototype into a professional tool.
