This paper concerns the analysis of the dynamic forces acting on the magnets in a Halbach permanent magnet array of a commutated magnetically levitated moving-magnet planar actuator. Numerical models which determine the force and torque between a permanent magnet and a coil are used to determine this dynamic force distribution for two different commutation methods.
