Abstract

This paper presents a novel antenna based on a dual rampart radiating structure whose main radiation lobe can be steered across a broad angular range by changing the frequency of the input signal. The antenna characteristics are controlled electronically using suitable single-pull double-throw switches. The design has been completed using a full-wave electromagnetic simulation tool. A field of view of 135 degrees over the frequency band from 7 GHz to 8.5 GHz has been achieved.
