Abstract
This study focused on the practical relevance of teacher dispositions. It is supposed that teacher dispositions could provide an entry to concretise the reconciliation of the professional and personal dimension of teaching. According to teachers and school leaders, a good teacher generally shows respectful, honest and positive behaviour towards his students. Furthermore, it was found that an accessible and a dedicated disposition were most commonly chosen by teachers as dispositions that fit them and their profession well. Their descriptions of dispositions could be divided into three categories: 1) interpersonal, 2) subject matter knowledge and pedagogical skills, and 3) moral.
