Abstract

This work presents the design of an Expert System (Motor Design Software Tool - MDST) that will be used for design and analysis of three-phase induction motors. A suitable selection between numerous models and parameter calculation methods provided by literature is made and discussed. The models are implemented and tuned to match Finite Element Analysis results and measurement results. Furthermore, design procedures and considerations are discussed. Finally, an optimization routine that improves the design for given constraints on the air gap thickness, motor volume, electric loading and magnetic loading is presented.
