Deterministic Synthesis Technique for Elliptically Shaped Conformal Aperiodic Antenna Arrays

Abstract

Conformal array pattern synthesis represents a challenging problem. In this paper, a deterministic design method for elliptical conformal arrays based on the auxiliary array pattern formulation is presented. This method, being semi-analytical in nature, is able to evaluate the location and excitation coefficients of each array element in just a few seconds using conventional computers which are currently available on the market, whilst accounting for either layout or beamforming network constraints.
