    Abstract

The contents of cyclic dimer, trimer, and tetramer in equil. polymers were detd. by fractional sublimation of a MeOH ext. The sublimation temps. are 223 Deg, 254 Deg, and 282 Deg (with decompn.) for the di-, tri-, and tetramer, resp. The proportion of cyclic di-, tri-, and tetramer is 2:1:2 (221.5 Deg) and 5:2:7 (253.5 Deg). The formation of H bonds between pairs of NHCO groupings is believed responsible for the stability of the tetramer. [on SciFinder (R)]
