    Abstract

    The pet as man's companion has a positive Influence on his weUfare and sensation of wellbeing. The social function of the domesticated small animal cannot be missed In our western society. However, the interaction between man and pet may also give rize to irritation and pathology. In this presentation I shall restrict myself to a part of the negative side of small animal companionship. I intend to discuss mycoses, arthropodal infections and allergologlcal conditions of humans based on epidermal emanations of pets.
