Abstract

Thermogravimetric, electrical resistance and thermopower measurements on YBa2Cu3Ox are reported as function of the ambient oxygen pressure. Th occurrence of monovalent copper in the complete composition range 6.0 <x <7.0 seems to be essential to explain the defect chemistry of this compound, although no simple defect chemical model can be constructed from the data reported so far.
