Abstract

Five upper secondary school students from Augustinianum in Eindhoven participated in the Beamline for Schools competition by submitting a proposal for the design and construction of a homemade Multiwire Proportional Chamber, a type of particle detector. Their proposal was chosen as one of the three winners out of 379 entries from 63 countries. As a reward, the students were able to test their Multiwire Proportional Chamber at the DESY particle accelerator.
