Abstract
U~ TILL NOW THE OPTIMUM DELAY-TIME ADJUSTMENT OF PROTECTION SYSTEMS IS DETERMINED BY SPECIALISED ENGINEERS BASED ON
THEIR PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE AND THEIR PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY. IN THE ARTICLE IT IS SHOWN THAT THIS TASK CAN BE PERFORMED VERY WELL BY THE COMPUTER. THE COMPUTER PROGRAM IS BASED ON THE PRINCIPLE OF FUNCTIONAL DEPENDENCIES. THE APPLICATION WILL BE ILLUSTRATED BY MEANS OF SOME PRACTICAL EXAMPLES. FIRST OF ALL (DIRECTIONAL)
OVERCURRENT PROTECTION SYSTEMS WILL BE APPLIED BUT WHEN THIS LEADS TO PROBLEMS DISTANCE PROTECTION WILL BE CONSIDERED.
