Abstract

Some nuclear facilities because of the type and/or quantities of nuclear material being processed are particularly sensitive from a safeguards point of view. In an enlarged European Union with limited Inspector resources, the NUclear SAFeguards unit of the Joint Research Centre develops applications and systems in order to support and enhance safeguards activities in reprocessing and enrichment plants. This paper describes the integration of existing tools in order to benefit of their synergy, the development of a new data acquisition system for solution and process monitoring in a reprocessing plant, the feasibility study to perform unattended safeguards of a PuO2 storage and a proposal for the implementation of a Near Real Time Accountancy system in an enrichment plant.
