Abstract

This paper discusses a strategy for optimal storage schedulingin a supply and demand network equipped withmultiple storage units of different characteristics. The scheduler uses a constrained predictive control technique, where only average information about future operating conditionsis needed, making the approach practical.A non-smooth objective is incorporated. The outcome of the optimal schedule heavily depends onthe characteristics of the storage units. An example is provided for an airplane power generator where mechanicaland electrical power are co-produced, and electrical power can be storedin three different storage devices, representing electrical, mechanical, and chemical storage units.
