Abstract

The paper presents general properties of arrays of connected slot or dipole antennas providing guidelines for the design of structures. Connected arrays represent one of the most promising array antenna concepts able to meet the very demanding requirements in terms of antenna bandwidth and high polarization purity, imposed by the new generations of radar systems. This array concept can also be applied in other fields like earth based space science or satellite based future missions as well as for wide-band integrated array antennas for telecommunications.
