Composition dependence of the magnetoresistance and the oscillatory exchange interaction in Fe-Co-Ni/Cu (fcc,100) multilayers

Abstract

The composition and temperature dependence of the magnetoresistance (MR) ratio and exchange coupling strength have been measured for antiferromagnetically coupled Fe-Co-Ni/Cu multilayers with coherent γ-phase (fcc,100) structures. The MR ratio shows a maximum for Co/Cu systems, and the coupling strength is maximal for Co90Fe10/Cu systems. The compositional variation of the coupling parameter cannot be explained from the RKKY model.
