Abstract
Just as many historians answer the question, ‘Why history?’ by replying, ‘So that fewer people will get killed’, Christian Rapp also has his moral reasons for putting greater curricular focus on informative moments in architectural history. What is the point and what is the pointlessness of including tradition and research in the teaching of design? And what sort of curriculum has room for transmittable knowledge, coherence and the ‘moment of creativity’? ‘It’s not true that you either are a born architect or drew the short end of the stick.’
