Abstract
The intriguing combination of chirality with the highly sym. nature of dendrimers is investigated using chiral dendritic surfaces. Also the enantiomerically pure dendrimer 1 is synthesized from S-solketal and is fully characterized. The chirality of the dendritic structure stems from the difference in generation of the two Frechet-wedges as attached to the primary alcs. of glycerol. Both enantiomeric forms of 1 do not exhibit any optical activity in the 200-800 nm range and are therefore referred to as cryptochiral dendrimers. [on SciFinder (R)]
