    Abstract

Synthetic analogs of coiled-coil forming peptides are presented. These analogs are based on modified polyethylene oxides and have a repeat of polar ethylene glycol or 2-oxo ethylene glycol segments (P) and apolar (S)-2-alkyl-substituted ethylene glycol segments (A). Polymers of the type [PAPPAPP]n and [PPAP]n were prepd. by SnOct2-catalyzed polymn. of (S),(S)-8, 17-diisobutyl-2-oxo-21-crown-7 and (S)-5-alkyl-2-oxo-12-crown-4 monomers. The assocn. of these polymers in soln. was analyzed by ORD-measurements, revealing an inversion of main-chain chirality induced by increasing the polarity of the solvent. [on SciFinder (R)]
