Abstract

The chemical and thermal stability of self-assembled monolayers (SAM) of organosilanes were investigated for membrane emulsification. The water contact angles and hydrophobicity range of the sample were also investigated. The sample SAM were formed using octyltrichlorosilane (OTS) and a perfluoronated octyltrichlorosilane (FOTS). The thermal and chemical stability of the sample were investigated under different temperatures and pH-values adjusted with sodium hydroxide and nitric acid. It was found that the SAM contained molecules that were covalently linked to the substrates.
