Abstract

Synthetic mica-montmorillonite is impregnated with Ni(OAc)2 by adding while stirring silica, Al(iso-PrO)3, and NH4F to the Ni(OAc)2 soln. The product is filtered, washed, and dried. Crosslinking is achieved by treating with Al chloride hydroxide. The catalyst is formed by impregnating the crosslinked silicate with Pd (using Pd(NH3)4Cl2). Hydroisomerization activity and selectivity for pentane at 250 Deg and 30 bar are high
