Abstract

A simple, rapid gas chromatog. method for the detn. of cellular fatty acids from yeast species was described. Yeast strain was grown on SAB medium at 37 Deg for 24 h. The cellular fatty acid compn. was analyzed by capillary gas chromatog. (GC) after sapon. of cells, methylation and extn. of Me esters. Various conditions for sample prepn. and GC anal. were compared. The effects of growth temp. and age on the cellular fatty acid compns. were also discussed
