Abstract
This report presents the development and application of simplified calculation models for quantifying the effects of solar shading and ventilative cooling, supporting the conceptual BRYS thermostat created by Kuijer (2024). The primary goal of the calculation models is to assist in preventing overheating in homes by optimizing the use of shading devices and natural ventilation strategies. The models leverage weather data and building-specific parameters to provide actionable recommendations for maintaining thermal comfort, while also aiming to maintain low-tech.
