Abstract

Although BIPV can be seen as one of the four key developments in the field of PV to realize large market penetration in the built environment, besides storage, reliability and grid integration, the out roll does not seem to pick up speed. Over a hundred BIPV products have been realized past years, but have mainly not left the prototyping and small scale application phase. Based on this situation, a new Task has started in 2015 focussing on the facilitation of BIPV acceleration within the IEA PVPS implementing agreement. In this contribution, the development and status of this Task will be presented and the question if BIPV can be seen as an opportunity or burden for the PV community will be addressed.
