Abstract

An algorithm is presented which can be used to alleviate shape artifacts (buckling) that occur with interpolating spline curves or interpolating spline surfaces. The algorithm consists of applying small displacements to some of the vertices that are interpolated. It is based on a quantitative measure for the amount of buckling, and a relaxation method to reduce this amount.
