Abstract

Organic thin-film transistors have been demonstrated in backplanes of flexible and rollable displays, but are also expected to find applications in circuits. Most digital circuits demonstrated so far are code generators for HF RFID tags. Further envisaged applications are analog and mixed-signal circuits, as future sensor applications on foil will require analog circuits to amplify and condition sensor signals and convert them from analog to digital. We present the state of the art of digital and analog circuits using organic TFTs on plastic foil, and discuss some design considerations needed to overcome today's technology limitations.
