Abstract

The proper implementation of EMC in the design of electronic products has proven to bring more reliability and robustness in electronic systems than a common reactive approach. It is especially the case for complex systems and modules placed in a harsh electromagnetic environment. This paper propose an audit tool aiming at both evaluating the degree of implementation of EMC in the design, and setting up a plan towards an efficient custom-made implementation. This evaluation is performed against 4 pillars covering all aspect of EMC which need to be equally addressed. The audit has been first conducted in a large company and has proven to be a powerful tool in highlighting both strong and weak points of the EMC implementation. It consist in a set of interviews to be performed at all level and in all areas of the company. The conducted interviews are detailed and a set of examples of what outputs could be expected are given.
