Abstract

All-optical label swapping (AOLS) is a promising approach of implementing label swapping techniques for transparent optical packet switching and forwarding in the optical layer at high-speeds close to fiber line-rates. In this paper, an AOLS-based alloptical packet switch node architecture for WDM simultaneous all-optical time-serial label processing is presented. Furthermore, contention resolution for this AOLS packet switch is also addressed.
