Advances in single-mode interconnection technology

Abstract

It is argued that a splicing method that requires no far ends and second measurement is potentially cost-effective. The key elements for the preparation of such splices and connectors are summarized, and some methods are described in this context. Some of the techniques can be used for connection to laser diodes and planar optical components also.
