Abstract

A system and method are provided for identifying workspaces in an area and for determining the occupancy of the workspaces. A vision sensor arrangement is used for capturing an image or images of the area over time. For the images, occupancy information over time in the area is analyzed so that workspace regions can be automatically recognized based on the historical occupancy information. The current occupancy of the workspace regions can be determined based on current or recent occupancy information.
