Abstract

A switching power electronic converter arranged to determine a measure for a DC-bias current flowing through an electromagnetic component, the switching power electronic converter comprising a Direct Current, DC, link stage to provide a DC voltage, a switching stage comprising active switching elements, operated at a switching frequency, for converting the DC voltage to a series of voltage pulses provided to the electromagnetic component, and the electromagnetic component connected, directly or indirectly, to a switching node of the switching stage, wherein the switching power electronic converter further comprises a DC-bias current detection stage, provided at the DC link stage, wherein the DC-bias current measuring stage is arranged to determine the measure for the DC-bias current by determining a current, or voltage, in the DC link stage having a frequency component at the switching frequency.
