Abstract
We experimentally compare the nonlinear tolerance of DWDM 21.4-Gbit/s RZ-DQPSK and 21.4-Gbit/s POLMUX-RZ-DPSK modulation over an 800-km SSMF straight-line. We show that the small depolarization penalty of POLMUX-RZ-DPSK makes it a possible alternative to RZ-DQPSK modulation for next-generation transmission.
