Abstract

This paper describes the design of a channel demodulator IC for a Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) system. The IC contains 466K-transistors and includes 160K embedded Dynamic RAM. The design was done using the PIRAMID silicon compiler. Using the compiler it was possible to create on short term an application specific complex-arithmetic signal processor. The IC, which allows for the first time real-time OFDM demodulation, is being used in current prototypes of a DAB receiver.
