Abstract
A bound on the absolute value of the temporal degree of coherence has been derived and formulated in terms of the degree of spectral similarity, which is a measure for the similarity of the power spectra of two signals, and the weighted averaged spectral degree of coherence, in which quantity the weighting function depends on these power spectra. Furthermore, the physical conditions have been found for which the bound will indeed be reached.
