Abstract
The influence of a heat input on the 3D-transition of cylinder wake flow is studied at low Reynolds number. Both numerical and experimental investigations are presented the 3D-transition occurs, for Re = 85 and Ri = 1.0, as pairs of counter-rotating vortices just behind the cylinder. Furthermore, the flow topology is quite different for 'in-plume' and 'out-of-plume' plane. Likewise, a non-uniform temperature distribution is observed in the near-wake along the spanwise direction and it is associated with the pairs of counter-rotating vortices just behind the cylinder
