Academic background

Yutao Chen received his B.S. Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 2012 from Hunan University, China. From 2012 to 2014, he was with School of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, as a Ph.D student in Master period. He received the Ph.D degree in 2018, at the Department of Information Engineering, University of Padova. His Ph.D. thesis is entitled "Algorithms and Applications for Nonlinear Model Predictive Control with Long Prediction Horizon". During 2018-2019, He was a Postdoc researcher at University of Padova for the research project "Nonlinear Model Predictive Control for Human-in-the-Loop Applications".

Research profile

Yutao Chen is a Postdoc researcher in the Control System group of the Electrical Engineering Faculty at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e).

His research interests are numerical optimization, optimal control, real-time nonlinear model predictive control algorithms and applications. He has developed fast numerical algorithms and solvers for NMPC. He is working on the EU project IMPRIUM, for which he delivers model-based optimal control solutions to economic driving of heavy-duty trucks.
