''The effort to understand the universe is one of the very few things which lifts human life a little bit above the level of farce and gives it some of the grace of tragedy.''
Yu Li is currently a Ph.D. candidate at the Mechanics of Materials group of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and the plasma materials interaction group at Dutch Institute for Fundamental Energy Research (DIFFER). Li focuses on understanding the thermomechanical behavior of tungsten exposed to fusion relevant plasmas. This is carried out by performing plasma exposure at Magnum-PSI, a globally unique machine located at DIFFER which produces highly relevant fusion plasmas and adequate post-mortem characterization at the TU/e multiscale lab. International collaborations with SCK.CEN (Belgium), Juelich (Germany), ITER (France), and SWIP (China) are also included.
Yu Li obtained his master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering at Tsinghua University in 2016.
